Ekman Grab Sampler
This versatile device is frequently used for collecting sediment and sludge samples. Consisting of a strong stainless steel cabinet to which two sprung jaws are attached, a mechanism closes the jaws by remote command, which traps the sediment within the cabinet. Lids on top of the cabinet prevent wash out on retrieval, and the device can be either rope or pole operated. Additional weights can be added as required. Options Include; internal corer tubes - screened lids - a method of determining the penetration of the device into the sediment (useful for interface sampling).
Corer Samplers
The Tube Corer consists of a stainless steel tube with an internal piston. The device is pushed into the sediment manually by a pole, at the same time, the internal piston is drawn up inside the tube. The vacuum created retains the sediment within the corer tube. The device can be removed from the sediment and the sample retrieved.
Other devices are available which can be deployed merely from a rope. These can be lowered into the sediment and on retrieval the raising of the device activates a valve in the top of the corer creating a vacuum which retains the sediment inside the corer tube.

 | | Kemmerer Plastic Water Sampler | Well Dippers
We have a range of Well Dippers manufactured from plastic, acrylic and stainless steel, and available in 500ml, 1L, 2L and 3L capacities. As the Well Dipper is lowered through the water column, water flows through the device. At the desired depth, when lowering ceases, the device closes, trapping the water within. The device can then be retrieved with the water sample intact.
